Promote Vision 2036 extensively

Francistown councillors have called for comprehensive promotion of Vision 2036.
They were responding to a presentation made by Vision 2036 chief executive officer, Mr Christopher Molomo to the Francistown full council meeting on November 25.
Itekeng Ward councillor Mr Lesego Kwambala said Batswana were more familiar with services such as Myzaka and Orange money than with the national vision because of their good marketing strategies.
The same strategies could be adopted in selling the vision to the people, he said.
Further, Mr Kwambala said it was important for all government departments to drill their employees on Vision 2036 as it was done with HIV/AIDS.
Councilor Eric Mabengano of Ntshe Ward also concurred that the vision was not sold vigorously.
He said for a plant to grow, one had to nurture it and give it love which should be the case with Vision 2036.
Mr Mabengano urged the Vision 2036 council to take government on board when marketing the vision.
Another councillor, Mr Ruben Ketlhoilwe for Moselewapula, advised the council to always provide feedback with regard to whether the vision was on the right track or not so that mistakes could be corrected.
Nominated Councillor Modiri Lucas advised the vision council to catch them young and address schools as learners were the ones who were going to live the vision’s aspirations.
He urged the vision council to consider printing the vision pillars in Braille in line with the policy of inclusiveness.
In his presentation earlier, Dr Molomo said the vision council had learnt that there was need for stronger implementation of major developmental projects and stronger coordination that included oversight. Dr Molomo said the building of monitoring and evaluation capacity as well as timely alignment of National Development Plans (NDPs), District Development Plans (DDPs) and Urban Development Plans (UDPs) to Vision 2036 were needed.
He noted that periodic reviews and regular feedback to stakeholders were important to make the aspirations of Vision 2036 a reality.
He requested the city council to champion a few of the sub-pillars possibly for the remaining part of NDP 11 and UDP.
According to Dr Molomo, Vision 2036 was aimed at transforming the economy and uplifting people’s livelihoods through sustainable and optimal use of natural resources.
It was also aimed at building a land of peace, freedom and progressive governance. Ends
