Serowe needs RAC - Molale
24 Nov 2020
Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Mr Eric Molale has said his ministry was aware of the need for construction of Rural Administration Centre (RAC) for Serowe Administrative Authority (SAA).
Answering a question in Parliament, Minister Molale said the project could not be accommodated in NDP 11 due to budgetary limitations, but would be considered in the next plan period.
He said the ministry was aware that SAA was operating from portable offices within the Old Sekgoma Memorial Hospital located away from the buildings where COVID-19 suspected cases were quarantined.
He said adherence to COVID-19 protocols was strictly enforced to ensure the safety of officers.
Mr Molale was answering a question from the Serowe North MP, Mr Baratiwa Mathoothe who asked the Minister if he was aware that SAA offices were operating from portable offices within the Old Sekgoma Memorial Hospital, where COVID-19 suspected cases were quarantined.
He also wanted the minister to update the house when he would consider constructing RAC for SAA since it was a health hazard to operate within the premises that are used to quarantine COVID-19 recovering patients, thereby putting SAA officials at a high risk of contracting COVID-19. ends
