The Khawa Dune Challenge motorsport and tourism flagship programme is slated for April next year.

According to information from Kgalagadi District commissioner’s office, the event, which promotes sporting and adventure activities in the Kgalagadi District,will be held from  April 30 to May 1.  

It states that the event will be hosted in accordance with COVID-19 protocols that will be applicable during that time, adding that to make it very successful, formal preparations shall start in January 2021.

Meanwhile, in an interview, Dakar Rally fastest rookie and Southern African champion, Ross Branch said he was preparing young riders to participate in the epic event.

Training for the 10 young riders will commence in two weeks, where  Branch aka Kalahari Ferrari will impart motorsport knowledge to the young aspiring riders in Khawa.

Branch said training camp would be held in collaboration with Botswana Tourism Organisation.

Branch has been training youngsters since 2013 and he is hoping to produce world class riders, who will ride in competitive categories during the Khawa Dune Challenge. ENDS
