Maintenance tender for Palapye hospital in process

Parliament has learnt that the tender for Palapye hospital maintenance is currently in process while evaluation is scheduled for November 23 to December 4, 2020 after which maintenance will commence.
This was revealed by the Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr Edwin Dikoloti when answering a question in Parliament.
The Minister also stated that the total number of health professionals at the hospital and clinics at Palapye as per the establishment was 45, comprising 25 medical officers of which seven were on study leave, two medical specialists, four dental officers, five pharmacists, one radiographer, two laboratory officers, one physiotherapist, one laundry and domestic officer and four health officers.
In addition, Dr Dikoloti said there was a total of 195 nurses and that Palapye hospital and clinics had a total of 11 vacant positions that would be filled during the course of the financial year.
The positions, he said, were five medical doctors, one medical specialist and five nurses.
Parliament was also told that non-functional equipment included two table top autoclaves in dental unit and x-ray machine, noting that the ministry had ordered parts to repair the devices.
Dr Dikoloti said in the interim, the dental unit was autoclaving from the main autoclave machine in the facility, while x-ray machine had since been issued.
Palapye MP, Mr Onnetse Ramogapi had asked the minister to state progress on maintenance tender of Palapye hospital.
He also wanted to know the total number of health specialists in Palapye and the timelines for filling vacant positions in Palapye Hospital and clinics.
Mr Ramogapi had further wanted to know the total number of malfunctioning equipment and when it would be serviced or replaced. Ends
