Ministry addresses Mothamo hostel accommodation shortage

Efforts are ongoing to address shortage of hostel accommodation at Mothamo Junior Secondary School in Serowe South, the Assistant Minister of Basic Education, Ms Nnaniki Makwinja, has said.

She told Parliament that construction of an additional 72 hostel space was ongoing, adding that a porta cabin that accommodated 12 boys had also been provided to the school.

She said the ministry would close the verandah of six hostel blocks to further increase hostel capacity  by 72 boarders at both boys and girls hostels by January next year.

Ms Makwinja said the school had 720 boarders, 341 boys and 379 girls and all students had been accommodated by placing 12 boys and 10 girls per dormitory.

She was responding to a question from Serowe South MP Mr Leepetswe Lesedi who wanted to know if she was aware of the serious shortage of hostel accommodation at Mothamo Junior School and when the problem would be addressed.ENDS
