Cycling club, Team Swift, on November 5 launched a new kit ahead of the club’s third and last stages of Vunani Fund Managers race.

Team Swift’s new kit is burgundy and white fade with black shorts. The Apex Series kit represents the pinnacle of high performance cycling kit from Ciovita.

The kit features a logo of the team’s rebranded sponsor, Vunani fund Managers as well as other sponsors and the team’s logo at the back of the jersey.

Thabo Moipolai, Vunani Fund Managers CEO, said they had renewed their two-year partnership with Team Swift with another two more years.

“We believe that long term relationships have much better benefits,” said Moipolai, adding that they intended to make their relation with Team Swift a long term one. 

He emphasised the importance of sponsoring sport, saying it was difficult for sporting codes in Botswana to survive.

Moipolai noted that his company believed that sport united people from all aspects of life.

He therefore implored other organisations to sponsor various sporting codes to avail different platforms for development and growth of sports in the country.

He also implored Botswana Cycling Association to put in place incentives that could fully develop cycling as a sport so that it was more competitive like in other countries.

He said as an association, they should thrive to commercialise cycling so that they attracted the right sponsorship for the sport.

“How you build the commercial aspect of a sporting code is to be able to have an oversight organisation that demonstrates that it is much more structured, more focused and commercially driven to attract sponsors,” said Moipolai.

Team Swift has participated in all Tour de Limpopo UCI Africa tour 2.2 stage races in South Africa as well as other competitive races in the region.

They were classified 14th in the 2019 Tour de Limpopo UCI Africa tour 2.2 stage race among 18 continental participating teams. ENDS
