Botswana Insurance Company (BIC) has donated P200 000 to two organisations as part of its corporate and social responsibility (CSR).
Autism Botswana and The Broadcasters Organisation (TBO) received P50 000 and P150 000 respectively.
A press release from BIC says out of the P150 000 that TBO received, P100 000 is a partnership renewal while P50 000 is a donation towards the fight against COVID-19 to develop an e-learning platform to assist students to study while at home.
On one hand, Autism Botswana received a pledge of P50 000 from BIC while its sister company Botswana Life contributed P50 000 to create awareness about autism.
The release says the company aims at making positive contribution to the society it operates in.
It says the company’s CSR strategy follows the ISO 26000 standard, which focuses on sustainable and impactful partnerships and as corporate citizens, they thus have a duty towards driving hope and making life better in communities.
Furthermore, it says BIC has been working with the two organisations since 2016, and the collaboration has brought a number of developments, including a software called BIC Matshwao System that TBO has developed to bridge the ICT gap in primary schools.
To date, the release says the system has been installed and fully operational in 42 schools in different regions of Botswana.
The release also says the two beneficiaries have been given a green light to start using funds on various projects they want to engage in to develop communities. ENDS
