BNSC BNOC align strategies

Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) and Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at aligning strategies.
The BNSC Vision 2028 and BNOC Strategic Plan 2017-2020 would be aligned to ensure common vision and targets.
Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony in Gaborone on November 2, BNSC chairperson, Marumo Morule, said the first five-year period of the deal saw a considerable movement in the way the two bodies governed sport.
The two organisations, he said, could only achieve their dreams provided sport people worked together in unison.
He said the MoU would therefore ensure that sport delivery was more efficient, effective and financially prudent.
Morule further said the deal would help guide the two organisations and ensure that athletes and those that supported them had a friendly environment to excel.
“If we are to continue with our fragmented efforts, I can assure you that the five gold medals we would like to attain by 2028 will remain all but a pipe dream,” he said.
Also Morule said a few years ago, the two entities agreed to jointly deliver the sport awards, hence the change of name from BNSC Awards to Botswana Sports Awards.
“In the last few years, we have been collaboratively organising the annual sport science and coaches symposium. The two organisations jointly facilitated Botswana’s preparation and competition at the 2019 African Games,” he said.
The MoU was intended to also help merge the BNSC’s sport development committee and BNOC’s high performance committee, facilitate establishment of a national coaches commission to help establish an international games committee for all sport competitions as envisaged in the 2001 National Sport and Recreation Policy and the BNSC Act No 30 of 2014.
