Palapye Junction Spar donates to less privileged

Palapye Junction Spar has donated food hamper worth P1 200 to a less privileged child in Palapye as a part of its cooperate social responsibility.

Handing over the hamper on Tuesday, Spar General Manager Mr Norman Juda said the project started last year November, with the store making a commitment to donate P1 200 worth of groceries on monthly basis.

 He said their aim was to help those in need hence they chose the fifteen-year old girl living with disability. 

“She looks like a young child, she is not growing and she is always in her mother’s lap, as a result her mother needs to be  with her at home, always,” he narrated.

Chairperson of Palapye Administrative Authority (PAA) Ms Khumoyame Lekoko appreciated Spar for the donations. 

“It is not everyone who can donate especially in this difficult era of COVID-19,” she noted. 

She said Spar did not just come to Palapye for profit making but they also had the mandate of changing people’s lives which showed the spirit of unity and cooperation.

Ms Lekoko challenged other companies to develop the spirit of giving rather than focusing on making profits. 

“May God richly bless you as you continue in the journey of giving,” she added.

Member of Village Development Committee (VDC) Mr Phuthegang Letsebe said it was commendable to assist those in need, which helped to ease the burden on government.  

He also urged people to continue helping less privileged, elders, orphans, needy and people with disabilities.

Receving the goods on behalf of his granddaughter, Mr Baokame Mokgalagadi appreciated the donations, adding that it was by the grace of God as everything was possible through Him.

 “Faith without deeds is dead, ” he explained. 

Boikago/Madiba councillor, Mr Boitshoko Kinnear observed that Spar and its staff were giving whole heartedly.

He said shop was clean, had a good space and was complying with COVID-19 protocols.

 He appreciated the donations on behalf of his family.

Spar staff member Barulaganye Osupile shed light on some of the services that they offered such as Spar rewards and serving stamps that starts as little with P10. 

She said serving stamp ranged from P10 to P200 and a customer could  use them to buy groceries. She said the stamps were handy during difficult times especially in December and January.

 

Ms Osupile highlighted that they launched a partnership with Bata shop, whereby a customer who has my Spar rewards card, having spent P400 or more at Spar could take school shoes  at Bata shop which ranges from size 9-1 at a price of P30. BOPA
