BNYC partners with NGOs to empower youth

Botswana National Youth Council (BNYC) Board chairperson Ms Moitshepi Matsheng says the council has come up with a strategy to help youth during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Giving an update on Tuesday, on how the council was assisting youth during the pandemic, Ms Matsheng said BNYC had a character-building strategy to help build future leaders.
She said currently they were working with 24 NGOs which were responsible for character building and to help develop the youth’s skills.
Ms Matsheng said unemployment and under employment was a challenge in the country, adding that the council had engaged in various initiatives to create employment for the youth.
The TV and Film Festival is an annual initiative which Ms Matsheng identified as tone of those that helped to support creativity.
BW Jobs 4 Graduates chairperson Mr Christopher Seagateng said his organisation existed to help youth find jobs after they graduate.
He said for the past eight years, 12 000 youths have been assisted to find employment.
Mr Seagateng said the organisation which was established in 2012 provided training and mentoring.
He indicated that they also equiped the youth with skills needed to find jobs. He said graduates were matched to their respective jobs and noted that over 6 000 youths were registered BW Job 4 Graduates. Ends
