Govt appreciates church role

Councillor for Matlapana ward in Maun, Mr Kobamelo Baikgodisi, says churches play a major role in helping the country to tackle challenges.
Mr Baikgodisi made the remarks at closure of the Ngami Month of Prayer Against HIV/AIDS and COVID-19 in Chanoga recently.
He said churches were committed for their cause to help government at no cost.
The country, he said, needed prayers because HIV/AIDS used to kill many people and COVID-19 was wreaking havoc to the economy. Maun Ministers Fraternal chairperson,
Reverend Terrence Sechele, said churches had realised the importance of restoring people’s hope.
He noted that the Month of Prayer, which was initially designated for HIV/AIDS, this year incorporated prayers against COVID-19.
Reverend Sechele said the church’s role was to preach the gospel since such predicaments affected people’s minds and brought fear.
He further urged members of the public to keep praying, even past the month of prayer.
The Local Advisory Committee chairperson, Pastor Tshepiso Robert said the event was a platform for churches to pray for HIV/AIDS and COVID-19, reflect on efforts against the diseases and find a way forward. ENDS
