Maun senior to have first intake of hospitality pupils next year
18 Oct 2020
Maun Senior Secondary School will have first intake of form four students in hospitality and tourism in 2021 to kick start piloting of multiple pathways programme.
The school head, Ms Lekala Legwaila, said construction of a hospitality unit was underway and it would encompass a hotel and campsite.
She said the school had been selected to pilot multiple pathways in hospitality and tourism while Moeng College was to pilot agriculture.
Multiple pathways programme, she said, was meant to empower leavers with skills necessary for the market.
Ms Legwaila said this when Maun SS class of 1972 donated a television set, computer and printer worth about P1 500.
On the donation, she expressed heartfelt gratitude to the school’s founding puipils of the period of 1970 to 1972.
She said the school faced challenges of worn out facilities and was grateful to all donations.
Representative of class of 1972, Dr Eagilwe Segosebe, said the donation was for the founding class, which did its secondary school at Maun senior 50 years ago.
He said the learning environment during their era was not conducive since the school was under construction and had no electricity nor a kitchen.
He, however, said pupils who were mainly taught by peace corps then were dedicated and managed to pass and become successful.
Dr Segosebe said it was disheartening that Maun SS was performing poorly academically, and urged pupils to reflect on what they wanted in life and to be committed to their academic life.
A member of the class of 1972 Ms Evelyn Dikgang said former learners saw it fit to appreciate Maun senior for making them who they were and to appreciate the school’s 50 years of existence. ENDS
