Donations to help government in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic continue pouring in, thanks to the generosity of both individuals, corporates and faith based organisations.

On October 13, Minister for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration, Mr Kabo Morwaeng received P254 672.19 in cash and P33 832 465.00 in kind from different donors.

Mr Morwaeng said Batswana and international development partners had lived up to the saying that victory could only come through unity.

He reiterated government’s deep appreciation for the donors’ willingness to join in efforts against the pandemic.

He said even while the country acknowledged positive strides made, the nation could not afford to be complacent.

Minister Morwaeng pleaded with stakeholders to work hard to ensure compliance in the workplace and communities.

“With the rate of infection going up daily, the situation calls for necessary precautions to be observed to the letter,” he said.

Mr Morwaeng said together, Batswana could prevent further disruption and destruction of lives.

Among the donors were Spiritual Healing Church, Botswana Civil Service Pensioners Association, Botswana Prisons Service and Botswana Public Officers Medical Aid Scheme, who donated cash.

The European Delegation to Botswana and SADC, Diamond Trading Company, Infrastructure Facilities Management and Bothakga Burrow Botswana donated personal protective equipment.

Terrace Investments donated chairs and t-shirts and Brastorner donated the BSafe application.

European Delegation head Mr Jan Sadek said part of the donation was earmarked for fighting gender-based violence. ends
