Land allocation delay in Tubu worries residents

12 Oct 2020

Tubu residents have appealed to their Member of Parliament, Mr Caterpillar Hikuama to advocate for the speeding up of residential plots allocation in the village.

The residents told a kgotla meeting recently that the last time land was allocated in Tubu was in 2014.

The MP concurred that it was a genuine grievance that needed urgent attention, noting, however, that the issue was a national concern.

Tubu residents also complained about delayed connection of standpipes to their homesteads, with some having applied as far back as 2016.

They also expressed a concern about shortage of water in the village.

Kgosi Eastman Motshidiemang concurred, adding that these were days of misery as they lacked one of the basic human needs, water.

He said Water Utilities Corporation supplied the village with too little water, through bowsers, with priority given to the clinic and school.

Meanwhile, Tubu Primary School Parents Teachers Association chairperson, Mr Kethaotswe Boikwathao complained about shortage of teachers’ accommodation at the school as well as the dilapidated classrooms, with falling ceilings, which he said were a danger to both children and staff.

Mr Boikwathao also said the school had about 180 pupils using only four pit latrines, which was not healthy. ENDS
