Dikgosi dixadile, a campaign that aims to address challenges faced by the girl child and empower them was launched on October 7  at Maun main Kgotla.

The campaign is an initiative by dikgosi in Maun and aims to tackle gender based violence, teenage pregnancy, school drop-out as well as substance and alcohol abuse that confront the girl child.

Dikgosi dixadile vice chairperson, Kgosi Gakemoeng Molaletsi of Goora Seetso Kgotla said the initiative empowered dikgosi to address such issues at ward level.

With the motto; Chencha Monyana, the campaign challenges young people to turn their lives around while at the same time ascertaining support by dikgosi.

Kgosi Molaletsi stated that the campaign would include fortnightly community outreach programmes at schools and clinics as well as house to house visits in their respective wards.

“We will work in partnership with school management to teach young people the traditional values such as Botho, good morals and be parental figures,” she said.

Kgosi Molaletsi said parents would also be engaged in topics such as parent-child communication and good parenting skills, conducted through kgotla meeting.

“Our mandate is to ensure a safe and conducive environment for the girl child and youth to be courageous and be able to report violation,” said Kgosi Molaletsi. ends
