Contact tracing relating to seven cases reported at the National Assembly is ongoing with the assistance of the Ministry of Health and Wellness.
According to Parliament’s principal public relations officer, Ms Caroline Bogale-Jaiyeoba, one case was reported at headquarters, five at Gaborone Bonnington South Constituency Office and one at Gaborone Bonnington North Constituency Office.
“I would like to highlight that both Gaborone Bonnington South and Gaborone Bonnington North Constituency Offices are currently closed and in the meantime, I urge the public not to visit the offices,” she said.
She said the affected staff member at Parliament headquarters was in the team that prepared for the emergency Parliament meeting and was present at the meeting venue on September 27 and 28.
Ms Bogale-Jaiyeoba advised MPs to immediately seek medical assistance should they experience COVID-19 related symptoms and to continue following all the prescribed protocols.
She said in compliance with COVID-19 prevention measures, Parliament buildings and the affected constituency offices had already been fumigated. ENDS
