MP Kwape visits arson victims

Kanye South Member of Parliament, Dr Lemogang Kwape has urged local authorities to visit and assist families whose properties were recently torched by an arsonist around Kanye.
Dr Kwape made the plea when visiting the five affected families at Tsopye, Kgwakgwe and Mmasekou wards recently where three vehicles and three houses were gutted down by fire while four other houses had their windows smashed during the incident.
He said he was disappointed that the fire incidents occurred mid-week but the authorities had not set foot there as yet.
Dr Kwape said some families evidently needed support in terms of food and clothes.
He encouraged the affected families to pin their hopes on God and put the unfortunate incidents behind them, adding that just as the sun had set it would rise again.
“I leave you with nothing but God,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kanye police commander Mmoloki Mogale said the arsonist suspected to be a 24-year-old male resident of Tsopye ward was still on the prowl and appealed to residents to be vigilant and assist with any information that could help them to arrest him.
He said they had placed officers at strategic points across the village with a view to scaling up efforts to catch the arsonist.
Mr Mogale said the law allowed members of the public to apprehend the culprit where possible but warned them not to beat him. ENDS
