Bere /Kacgae Councillor, Mr Isang Saidoo has requested Ghanzi district council to influence the government to establish emergency station to cater for accidents along trans-Kalahari high way.
Contributing to a debate during the recent council session, Mr Saidoo argued that Kang and Ghanzi were far apart and as such there should be an emergency station to help those involved in road accidents along the area.
He added that the route was also Trans-Kalahari Corridor which serviced more vehicles including trucks transporting goods to and from Namibia.
Mr Saidoo said many lives would be saved if an emergency station was established .
He was supported by councillor Patrick Gaebuse of Tsootsha ward who advanced that besides the wide distance between the two villages, the situation was exacerbated by poor internet connectivity along the area.
Meanwhile, councillor of Kabakae ward in Ghanzi, Mr Oboletswe Setlabana has appealed to Water Utilities Corporation to consider having back up power generators at their boreholes or well fields to avoid lack of water during Botswana Power Corporation power outages.
“Imagine what happens at school hostels when there is power outage,” he rhetorically stated. ends
