28 Sep 2020

Why did i get married, a group of women in Selebi-Phikwe, recently donated food parcels to BOCAIP Selebi Phikwe.

The parcels are to be distributed to four girls who undertook a life skills training programme at BOCAIP.

The group’s branch chairperson, Ms Goitseone Makhura explained that they were a newly founded organisation of married women who wanted to impact positively on their communities.

She said the organisation sought to retain the dignity of women and the girl child as important members of the community.

Ms Makhura said women had virtues such as nurturing, loving and mending that which was broken in households, adding that the organisation was alive to the need to extend a helping hand to those requiring assistance, especially during COVID-19.

“We give not because we have surplus, but because of love and compassion. We know God will repay us for our good deeds,” said Ms Makhura.

Selebi Phikwe District AIDS coordinator, Mr Shatiso Daki said the gesture was a lesson to everyone.

He said he was proud of the organisation and hoped the parcels would be allocated accordingly.

“Let us learn from this. I believe we will take this initiative forward to help government develop the lives of Selebi Phikwe residents, especially in the wake of COVID-19,” said Mr Daki. ENDS
