Mahalapye magistrate’s office on September 25 donated toiletry to Madiba Senior Secondary School boarding pupils.
Handing over the donation, Magistrate Keneilwe Koobakwe said they had a responsibility to give back to the community, especially that many parents lost their jobs due to COVID-19 and were unable to provide their children with the basics.
Ms Koobakwe urged pupils to use the Independence day holidays to make up for the time lost during lockdown.
She noted that after the holidays completing pupils would be sitting for their final examinations.
“I urge you to work hard and be responsible citizens,” stated Ms Koobakwe.
The magistrate, who is also a Madiba secondary alumni, said she was happy to be giving back to her former school.
Madiba school head, Mr Ogolotse Tshupelo said he was grateful that his school was selected.
He encouraged pupils to study and prepare for tertiary where they would have to get accustomed to being self-reliant.
Student Representative Council president, Tumelo Molosiwa said the sanitary towels would come handy for female pupils who would not have to seek assistance from men who tended to take advantage of them. ENDS
