Euclear Crispa gives Mahupu school sanitary pads

21 Sep 2020

Euclear Crispa, a local sanitary pads manufacturing company has donated 3 000 sanitary pads to Mahupu Unified Secondary School.

Euclear Crispa was responding to the request by the school to help learners who had been locked up in hostels and ran short of sanitary pads during the last two COVID-19 lockdowns.

Handing over the donation recently, the company’s chief executive officer, Mr Otsile Moje said he was happy to be lending a helping hand to the girlchild so that they could concentrate on their studies.

Mr Moje said he was grateful that the company, which he started with the aim to manufacture sanitary pads and make them available and affordable to women in Botswana and Africa was now bearing fruit.

He said the donation would go a long way in addressing lack or shortage of sanitary pads for learners.

Again, he noted the donation would cover learners for the whole term and they would also be able focus on their studies without any worries.

He encouraged learners to remain committed to their studies and advised them to be respectful to their teachers because they were their parents.

“Respect for elders remains integral part of societies and Botho is a unifying principle of the nation.

Every teacher is your parent and they are here to shape your future. Do not be involved in unwarranted behaviour as other learners are doing in other schools bullying teachers,” he said.

In his welcome remarks, the school head, Mr William Mbinda said they had a total of 1 650 pupils and accommodating learners from form one to five, majority of whom he said were girls.

He attributed the shortage of toiletries to the movement restrictions as parents were not allowed into the school due to COVID-19 health protocols.

Mr Mbinda said they had to find ways of assisting learners with Mahupu staff members making contributions towards the purchase of sanitary pads.

He thanked the company for their gesture, saying the donation would assist in addressing some challenges girls in the school were faced with.

Guidance and counselling senior teacher, Mr Charles Tsiane also appreciated the company for the support, particularly at a time of need.

Mr Tsiane said staff members also made contributions amounting to P1 195 in effort to assist learners, noting that other companies that contributed included Mohau Engineering, Mahupu Desert Lions Club, Taung Poultry and Silver Dec.

Head girl, Ms Nametso Mothule said also thanked the company for the assisting girls at the school.

On the other hand, Kgosi Visco Tsiane of Takatokwane was also happy about the company’s assistance, which he said was the beginning of a long lasting friendship.

“It has to be nurtured and given an opportunity to grow,” he said. Ends
