 Boys have been advised to see teachers as enablers better placed to propel them to success.

  The advice was given by renowned musician Mr Mponang Ketshabile known as Gong Master.

 Mr Ketshabile also Duma FM presenter, said the boychild should introspect and be mindful of the fact that he carries wishes, hopes and aspirations of their families.

  The musician, together with church and village elders, were addressing Moshupa Senior Secondary School  learners followed an incident where two teachers were assaulted allegedly by 11 pupils last week Tuesday.

  Warning learners that delinquency could ruin their future, Mr Ketshabile said he was prompted to address all completing boys after the video of the incident went viral on social media.

He challenged the pupils to have ambition and to aspire to become like some successful people from the village among them President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi, Ms Lesego Kgajwane, Mr Last Rakgasa and Ms Stellah Monametsi-Ngwenya.

Mr Ketshabile also asked school authorities to identify any needy learners who could be sidetracked from their studies by their home situation and pledged to assist with food packages and school uniform. 

Former learner Mr Kabelo Rampe said he was once a ring leader in the school 19 years ago but his life was turned around by one teacher who advised him to divert his energies into something positive.

Mr Rampe also warned that delinquent behaviour especially  influenced by alcohol or drugs could rob them of a bright future.

He also challenged teachers to exhibit  good behaviour before pupils at all times argueing that children were not good at listening to elders but perfect at mimicking them.

A former Macha College learner, Mr Eric Mokoka shared a life changing incident that took away his eye sight. 

He said he lost his sight after ingesting a chemical called ethanol in a science laboratory. 

Mr Mokoka advised learners to set their sights high and desire to see themselves doing something worthwhile with their lives.

Area councilor Mothibedi Golekanye said he was pleased that the boys attended the meeting with an agreeable attitude.

Mr Golekanye also pledged to reward any top achievers who would emerge from the completing class.

 Meanwhile Kgosi Tom Kontle warned that the nation was migrating to a knowledge based economy and only those with an education would have a place. 

He also encouraged the school to make it a habit to hold similar meetings for learners in future.

According to the school head Mr Terrence Seitiso, the boys who assaulted the teachers would appear in court on September 24. 

They were also likely to be  slapped with a 20-day suspension, he said. ends
