Parliament resourceful for entrepreneurship

16 Sep 2020

Young people have been advised to follow Parliament news and position themselves for business opportunities.

Speaking at a one-day entrepreneurship workshop in Moshupa recently, Youth Entrepreneurship Accelerator Programme (YEAP) facilitator, Mr Kagiso Habangana told the young people that Parliament was the most resourceful platform where budgets and development projects of national interest were discussed.

Mr Habangana said youth stood to benefit from parliamentary discussions if they followed the debates  with a business mind.

He thus challenged young minds to learn to listen, read for business opportunities and ignore politics, saying ‘it is unfortunate that many young people only follow politics as opposed to opportunities.’

He also urged the participants to make it a habit to visit Parliament and get free copies of the Hansard, which was a record of parliamentary discussions.

He further advised youth to liaise with Village Development Committees (VDCs) to know about projects earmarked for their respective areas.

Mr Habangana has meanwhile challenged entrepreneurs and creatives to enjoy the privilege of creating the future while the rest followed.

He also advised entrepreneurs to acquire new business skills and to develop those they had.

He also talked about self-belief, which he described as a must-have business competence and urged them form alliances to speak in one voice.

The workshop, organised in collaboration with Moshupa/Manyana constituency office, was intended to accelerate the rate at which young people utilised the available citizen empowerment initiatives, programmes and interventions to create opportunities for themselves and others. ENDS
