Makome Hill former learners donate

15 Sep 2020

Alumni from different schools continue to assist learners in their former schools.

Makome Hill Secondary School class of 1992/1993, like many others, recently donated COVID-19 supplies as well as toiletry to assist needy learners at the school.

The school head, Mr Thulaganyo Mbulawa, appreciated the donation saying it would go a long way in assisting learners and in turn improve the school’s performance.

“The alumni still feels compelled to help the school despite challenges of limited resources attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Mr Mbulawa.

He added that he was grateful to see that after 27 years, the group was still keen to helping the school.

He also promised that the donation would be registered in the school inventory and aptly used.

The alumni chairperson, Mr Modiri Baitsemi, explained that the group, although newly assembled, was moving at a fair pace and that some of its members communicated via social media platforms from abroad to raise funds to assist needy learners.

Mr Baitsemi explained that the school requested COVID-19 supplies, hence their response by procuring five-litre sanitisers as well as 200 sanitary pads for girls and 15 bales of toilet paper.

He said the group intended to step up its responsibility towards helping those in need and thus pleaded with the community to aid in any way possible owing to financial constraints they were faced with. ends
