Minister for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration, Mr Kabo Morwaeng, says monitoring and evaluation is an essential public service management tool meant to strengthen performance.
He said this recently while responding to debates after Parliament approved chapter eight on monitoring and evaluation to stand as part of the mid- term review of the NDP 11.
Minister Morwaeng explained that the system of monitoring and evaluation was intended to continue where they had left in terms of implementation and improve performance.
He said it was government responsibility to improve productivity, adding that it was their mandate to fix where they had failed in the past, hence the need for monitoring and evaluation.
He also said monitoring and evaluation would ensure that projects were undertaken and completed on time to save time as well as to ensure quality products at the completion of such projects.
Furthermore, Mr Morwaeng said improvement in service delivery would mean that Batswana would get quality services.
Minister Morwaeng said Batswana had shown that they had trust in the ruling party as they gauged its performance by re-electing it to power every after five years, adding that it was a symbol to show that they were satisfied with their service delivery.
In addition, he said monitoring and evaluation would ensure that developments were taken to Batswana well on time.
He reiterated that all the stakeholders would be part and parcel of the monitoring process particularly those who received the services.
On the hand minister Morwaeng said constitution review was underway, adding that everyone Motswana would have an input in the process. He assured that they would not go to the next elections without having reviewed the constitution of the country. ENDS
