Nswazi Spar donates to Phase IV school

13 Sep 2020

Nswazi Spar has donated 160 face masks and 25 litres of hand sanitizing liquid soap to Phase 1V Primary School in Francistown.

When delivering the donation recently Nswazi Spar Tops Manager, Ms Lorraine Ditshane said the donation would enable learners to go to school protected and assured that they would not contract the virus.

Ms Ditshane explained that the donation was not only part of the retailer’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme but was also a response to government’s plea for help in the fight against COVID-19.

“We are aware of the challenges which our communities face, especially in these trying times, shortage of resources being one of them and we are happy to have had the opportunity to lend a helping hand,” she explained.

Ms Ditshane stated that they decided to donate face masks because pupils in lower classes such as standard one had a tendency of losing their masks.

The School Head, Ms Gomotsang Chabata thanked Nswazi Spar for the gesture, saying it came at the right time.

Ms Chabata stated that because of the COVID-19 pandemic, many businesses were not making profit and that businesses such as Nswazi Spar must be applauded for such a gesture under these difficult circumstances.

Phase 1V Court President, Kgosi Pogisego Mosarwe also thanked Nswazi Spar for the gesture, adding that the best investment was on children, who are the future leaders.

Kgosi Mosarwe appealed to other companies to heed the government’s call to help fight the pandemic by pledging donations of any kind. Meanwhile, he expressed concern that some learners, especially from junior secondary schools, did not observe the COVID-19 protocols, adding that most of them did not adhere to social distancing and failed to wear their face masks when out of school premises.

He said such behaviour was risky because greater Francistown zone had already registered COVID-19 cases.

Motivational Speaker, Pastor Bonno Randall of the Pentecostal Holiness Church (PHC), urged people to change their mindset to succeed in life in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The retailer also donated prizes to best performing standard two pupils and the best overall prize went to Wedu Mompati. ENDS
