Stanbic donates towards COVID-19 in Chobe

Kazungula Stanbic Bank Branch has donated toiletry hampers, masks and sanitisers to the Chobe Office of the District Commissioner.

Speaking at the handing over of the donation recently, the branch manager, Mr Kamogelo Gopolang said the donation was part of a package valued at P260 000 that Stanbic Botswana put aside to contribute in areas that the bank operated from around country.

The donation comprised 300 sanitisers, 250 masks and 50 toiletry hampers. and Mr Gopolang requested the office of the district commissioner to assist in distributing them to deserving beneficiaries.

Mr Gopolang said the bank appreciated government’s efforts in fighting COVID-19 hence it was challenged to contribute P1 million towards the national COVID-19 fund, P100 000 to the University of Botswana’s Faculty of Science and P260 000 to assist at all the branches.

He said Stanbic Botswana was committed to working with all stakeholders in developing the country.

Receiving the donation, Chobe district commissioner, Ms Sekgabo Makgosa thanked the bank for its generous contribution towards the fight against COVID-19.

Ms Makgosa who also chairs the district COVID-19 committee noted that the donation came at an opportune time as there were staff members who were manning the quarantine sites in the district.

Proposing a vote of thanks, principal development officer, Ms Nobuhle Mbuse thanked the bank, adding that government alone could not win the fight against COVID-19 hence the need for the private sector to lend a hand.

She assured Stanbic Bank that their donation would be distributed accordingly to make a positive impact in the fight against COVID-19 in the district. ends
