The Francistown campus of Institute of Development Management (IDM) has donated 455 face masks worth P7 000 to Zoroga Primary School.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony in Zoroga on September 3, IDM campus manager, Mr Elijah Moakofhi said, ‘the best learning environment is where health is not compromised,’ particularly during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said it was for this reason that they found it important to help the school.
Mr Moakofhi highlighted that it was not the first time they aided the school, pointing out that they assisted them with mobile toilets worth P53 840 in 2018 when the village experienced floods .
He said that was the beginning of a relationship, which they believed would go a long way in building the foundation of the children’s future.
He noted that the donation was an encouragement to the residents particularly school children to adhere to the COVID-19 health protocols.
Mr Moakofhi pointed out that it was imperative for people take responsibilities for their lives instead of wearing the face masks only when they see law enforcement officers.
“Let us wear them for our safety with us parents leading by example,” he said.
Appreciating the gesture, the school head Ms Ithuteng Mokokwe said they were appreciative of the help which IDM always rendered to the school.
She said the school depended heavily on the Tutume Sub-district Council and they often experienced challenges of resource shortage.
Furthermore, she said many families had not recovered from damages caused by Cyclone Dineo which had brought torrential rains.
She said with the suspension of Ipelegeng, which was their main source of employment, parents were failing to meet the learners’ needs.
She also commended IDM for their social corporate responsibility and always considering Zoroga school which has an enrolment of 426 students.
Ms Mokokwe said each student would receive a mask. ENDS
