Kang records two more COVID-19 cases

Two more positive cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Kang on September 3, following contact tracing.

This brought to eight, a total number of cases in the area.

Kgalagadi North District Health Management Team coordinator, Ms Kgomotso Moruisi, confirmed that since contact tracing commenced in the village, eight positive cases were recorded.

In an interview on September 4, Ms Moruisi said the initial 90 suspected contacts were tested, out of which eight tested positive.

Ms Moruisi said the first two cases of COVID-19 in Kang registered on August 16 and 17 emanated from Princess Marina Hospital in Gaborone where the duo had gone for regular dialysis treatment.

Ms Moagisi said 25 suspected contacts of the positive cases were quarantined at Nakabu Lodge, Kang Village Development Committee Guest House and Matsheng Guest House.

Ms Moagisi said contact tracing was ongoing.

She further appealed to members of the community to work in harmony with health officers as well as adhere to health protocols to curb the spread of the pandemic. ENDS
