06 Sep 2020

The Managing Director of SKL group of camps and Crocodile Camp Safaris Ms Constance Tlhabologo-Mbulawa said a girlchild deserves dignity so that they can grow up to become responsible and be able to reach their goals in life.

She said this when handing over toiletry and sanitary pads to Maun Senior Secondary School on September 4 in Maun.

The donation comprised 360 toilet papers, 288 bar soaps and 2 304 sanitary pads.

Ms Tlhabologo-Mbulawa explained that there was a concern of shortage of sanitary pads in the school due to the fact that most of the parents could no longer provide for their children as some lost their jobs in different tourism companies.

She said a girlchild needed support during the trying times of COVID-19 pandemic.

She urged pupils to believe in themselves to reach their goals, and to work hard in their academics despite the challenges they faced in their lives.

Receiving the donations, Maun Senior Secondary School head Ms Lekala Legwaila applauded SKL group of camps and Crocodile Camp Safaris for the donations pointing out that they would give learners confidence and enable them to perform well in their academics.

“Gone are the days where a girlchild was denied her rights due to traditional beliefs. we should unite to support them so that they can become future leaders,” Ms Legwaila said.

Maun Senior Secondary student representative council president Mr Jayson Kesego said shortage of sanitary pads in the school had led to poor attendance of classes due to low self-esteem among the learners.

He therefore thanked SKL group of Camps and Crocodile Camp Safaris for the donations saying they would restore pupils’ dignity and improve their academic performance. ends
