The Kgatleng District Multi-Sectoral Committee (DMSC), in collaboration with Kgatleng Ministers Fraternal, recently launched the Month of Prayer against HIV/AIDS and COVID-19.
Speaking at the event, held under the theme: God Cares, and He calms all Pestilences, Kgatleng District AIDS Coordinator, Mr Onkabetse Ntswetswe said this year, the country was compelled to include COVID-19 in the programme of the annual event.
He noted that the expectation was that after the launch, prayers would be held throughout the district in government offices, schools, dikgotla and other gatherings.
Eloyi Christian Church pastor, Mr Oteng Moreriwa urged people not to be misled into believing they could be cured of HIV/AIDS, but rather encouraged them to register for Anti-Retro Viral treatment as soon as they were diagnosed with the disease.
Mr Moreriwa also advised those who were already on treatment to take their medication as prescribed all the time.
He further advised people to adhere to the COVID-19 protocols, to curb the spread of the virus. The launch inluded prayers against other phenomena such as premature deaths, non-communicable diseases and gender-based violence. BOPA
