Motokwe primary pursues academic excellence
31 Aug 2020
Motokwe Primary School head, Mr Rapelang Modise, says they are working hard to improve the school’s academic performance.
Speaking in an interview, Mr Modise, said given the hiccups brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, the school management came up with strategies that would help Standard Seven pupils to be ready for Primary School Leaving Examinations.
Mr Modise said teachers had dedicated their time both during the week and on Saturdays to help struggling pupils.
He said the school performance had not been good over the years due to different variables, adding that the aim was to acquire a target of at least 65 per cent.
He said they had also engaged parents who had been supportive of their children’s education.
He said they also put in place a file system for each pupil to monitor performance.
Mr Modise said parents’ input in children’s performance could not be overlooked saying this encouraged the spirit of excellence.
The school head said in the past, they had satellite studies which brought together pupils, parents and teachers to improve performance.
He, however, said this would not be possible now due to COVID-19 and related protocols. ENDs
