30 Aug 2020

Due to COVID-19, the quota for Ipelegeng workers in the Mahalapye Sub- district has been scaled down from 4 039 to 1 373.

The number will include cleaners, cooks and COVID-19 scorpions.

Addressing Mahalapye Sub- district Council meeting recently, Ipelegeng coordinator, Ms Maipelo Ntesang informed councillors that some 29 projects to be attended to included some carry-ons from previous years in the form of  maintenance, renovation of houses and fencing of certain projects.

Ms Ntesang also informed the council that in February an Ipelegeng workers accidentally burnt Seole Bar in Sefhare while on duty.

She said the council had visited the site to appreciate the damages, whose costs would be incurred by the council.

Ms Ntesang explained that they were faced with challenges such as delayed delivery of protective clothing.

“Our employees work without full protective clothing because our suppliers are falling to meet demand,” she said, adding that they were also grappling with the problem of those who quit work

Another presenter, Itekeng Batswana Disability Association coordinator, Mr Moatso Motoma decried shortage of centres that catered for people living with disabilities in the district, but appreciated computers donated by President, Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi to the Sefhare-Ramokgonami centre last year.
