Good samaritan loses life in road accident

A good Samaritan lost his life in a road accident while trying to save other motorists by removing donkeys from the road.
Kutlwano Police Station commander, Superintendent Neo Serumola said the 35-year-old man met his untimely death at around 6am, August 25 when a vehicle knocked him after hitting one of the donkeys near Tati Siding.
“This is a pathetic incident, he was a good Samaritan but unfortunately he lost his life instead,” said Supt. Serumola.
He said the deceased and a friend, were on their way to Tonota and found a donkey lying dead on the road after having been knocked down by a vehicle.
He said the two decided to remove the dead donkey from the road before the deceased spotted other donkeys on the road reserves, which he then decided to chase away. The station commander explained that one of the donkeys moved towards the road and a vehicle which was coming from the south at a high speed knocked down the donkey.
He said the driver then lost control of the vehicle, which veered towards the deceased killing him instantly.
Supt. Serumola explained that the body of the deceased was lying at Nyangabgwe Hospital awaiting post mortem.
At the time of going to press, the police had not yet established where the deceased came from whilst police investigation continues.
Superintendent Serumola explained that this was the fifth fatal accidents in his area of jurisdiction since the beginning of the year. ends
