Tshikinyega Primary School has reopened after it was temporarily closed following a COVID-19 positive case of a teacher at the school.

Tshikinyega Primary school head Ms Grace Radipotsane said in an interview that the school opened on August 25 after it was temporarily closed on August 11 when teachers and members of the staff were placed under quarantine.

She said the school management would come up with a plan to ensure learners caught up with the syllabus and make up for lost time. “To cover up for a lost time, the students will be given more work to do at home and communication with parents will be done through letters,” she said.

The school head pointed out that completing classes would sit for mock examination on Monday as advised by the Mahalapye Sub-region.

Mahalapye Sub-region Chief education officer, Ms Maria Dikeme said the school had been disinfected and cleaned.

She said that they visited the school to ensure that all learners were back and received psychosocial support.

“We came here to ensure that social distancing is maintained, students are putting on masks and to check if class registers are checked, above all to ensure that pupils receive counselling before they resume lessons,” she explained.

One of the completing learners, Metsi  Mokibelo said whilst at home, she studied to prepare for the exams. She said she was aware that they were to sit for mock examinations when they returned to school. ends
