Marijuana sale usage need to be thwarted

Mochudi police have expressed concern over increasing cases of sale and usage of marijuana in the Kgatleng District.
Speaking in an interview with BOPA today, Senior Superintendent Lesole Mosimane said cases of marijuana sale and usage had to be nipped in the bud before they escalated.
He said eight cases of marijuana possession were recorded in the district August 20-25.
“Eight cases are a lot. We therefore urge people to be our eyes and ears by reporting any suspicions,” he said.
Senior Supt Mosimane said the high usage of the herb in the district was tarnishing the tribe’s image.
He said the increasing numbers were possibly fueled by the fact that alcohol sales had been temporarily put on hold.
People use the herb as a substitute for alcohol, he said.
Noting that usage of the herb negatively affected thinking, the police chief said users would end up disregarding COVID-19 protocols.
He urged people to continue reporting such cases warning that law-breakers would be taken to task.
Meanwhile Senior Supt Mosimane has applauded people for complying with COVID-19 regulations.
“People have become accustomed to the new normal. It is not so often that you would find people hanging out in groups and that is very commendable,” he said. Ends
