Senior table tennis national team assistant coach, Rorisang Raesima has bagged a scholarship at the University of Delaware in the US, where he will undertake

International Coaching Enrichment Certificate Programme (ICECP).

The one-year programme, will run from October 14, 2020 to October 5, 2021.

He said in an interview on Tuesday, that the programme would afford him the opportunity to improve his knowledge and skills of the game.

“I will be a much better coach than I am today upon completion,” he added.

Raesima said he believed Botswana Table Tennis Association (BTTA) would benefit from skills he would acquire from the programme.

He indicated that the code, which had embarked on a mission to introduce table tennis across the country and involve children, would benefit from the knowledge he would acquire, as he would be part of the implementing team.

He said he would be doing grassroots programming and development, talent identification and long term athlete development, which he believed would assist in growing the sport from grassroots.

Raesima also noted that his academy, School of Table Tennis, which hosts annual camps, assisted by BTTA, would benefit immensely from what he would have learnt.

He said the first five months of the programme would be conducted online, hence the chance to continue sharing what he would be learning with the association, before he leaves for USA in February 2021.

According to Botswana National Olympic Committee, liaison officer, Modise Mgadla, they made an open call to all national sporting federations to submit the names of their coaches, who met the requirements for the scholarship.

Mgadla said the scholarship was sponsored by the Olympic Solidarity, adding that it was an opportunity for table tennis to grow. ENDS
