Southern region’s District Health Management Team coordinator, Ms Josephine Mosimanewakgosi, has applauded Magdalene Creations for donating face masks to frontline workers.
Speaking in an interview following an event on August 18, she said the donation of cloth-face masks would come handy in fight against the pandemic.
She expressed gratitude towards the donation, noting that it would also reduce the use of medical masks by frontline workers when interacting with the general populace.
Ms Mosimanewakgosi said health workers would be able to use the masks outside the work place or environment that would help in infection control and management as well as preventing infection.
Ms Magdalene Serero, managing director of Magdalene Creations, a fashion design said they found it fit to donate cloth-face masks to DHMT to protect frontline workers.
She said she felt indebted to appreciate the work done by caregivers, risking their lives to save the lives of the masses, noting such a work should not go unnoticed.
The business woman said her company was propelled by love and compassion to fellow citizens to lend a helping hand, noting that she did not encounter challenges when designing and sewing cloth-face masks and was eager to overcome barriers because she was concerned by the health needs of the nation.
Ms Serero said a healthy population was one of the nation’s most important assets, and valuable in its own right.
She said people generally valued their health above most other things, pointing out that though good health was valuable in its own right, it also created thriving economies and communities.
She said everyone needed to be able to rely on the national health system, therefore imperative for individuals and companies to help government to come up with a well-resourced health care system. ends
