No qualified candidates to fill positions - Mthimkhulu
20 Aug 2020
Assistant Minister for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration, Mr Dumizweni Mthimkhulu has informed Parliament that two positions of Deputy Director, BOPA and Deputy Director – Publications at information services department remain unfilled owing to lack of qualified candidates.
Mr Mthimkhulu who was responding to a question on August 19, said candidates were taken for assessment to determine their suitability to fill the positions and they did not perform well hence failed to qualify for the positions.
Selibe-Phikwe MP Mr Dithapelo Keorapetse had posed a question on behalf of Francistown West MP, Mr Ignatius Moswaane asking the minister why the two positions of Deputy Director, BOPA and Deputy Director – Publications at Information Services Department had remained vacant for over two years.
Mr Mthimkhulu said that positions were sometimes filled on an ‘acting basis’, and it had been the same in this case as two officers were made to act for the positions for a period of 12 months.
“The non-filling of the two positions has had an effect, though not adversely, on the operations of the department. However, efforts are underway to fill the positions on substantive basis,” Mr Mthimkhulu said.
Mr Keorapetse had also asked the minister whether the vacancy of the two Deputy Directors did not affect some of the operational and administrative issues concerning the Department. Ends
