Government is currently reviewing the Old Age Pension along with other  social protection programmes, says Assistant Minister of Local government and Rural Development, Mr Kgotla Autlwetse

Mr Autlwetse informed Parliament that the work was well advanced as it was  at the approval stage which would give a green light for a timeline for implementation.   

He also explained that the national social protection framework aimed at strengthening coordination and harmonisation of social protection programmes and improving efficiency, the effectiveness and establishment of a single social registry.

He was responding to Selebi Phikwe West MP , Mr Dithapelo Keorapetse who had requested for an update on the review of Old Age Pension Scheme, particularly progress in as far as the review, and what was being reviewed as well as timeliness for submission of the final report. Ends
