Kalpataru Legothwana donates to Ngami schools

Kalpataru Power Transmission, a company sub contracted by Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) donated goods worth P59 900 to schools in Toteng, Sehithwa and Legothwana to aid them during the corona time.
The donation, handed on August 17, included masks, foot operated wash stations, thermometers and pads for girls.
The beneficiaries included Ngami Junior Secondary School, Sehithwa, Toteng and Legothwana primary schools in the Ngami constituency.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, the North West regional education office’ chief education officer, Mr Nicodemus Merafhe commended the power grid construction company for the donations.
Mr Merafhe said the company was demonstrating the spirit of Botho, a great lesson to the pupils.
In her remarks, Kalpataru Power Transmission citizen economic empowerment officer, Ms Dineo Lebati said the donations were meant to assist pupils in the fight against COVID-19 as well as preserve the girl child’s dignity.
The company, she said, strived to empower locals and has employed 83 of them in both Kalpataru Legothwana Sub- station and its sub-contract LNH.
Ms Lebati said the company also used machinery operated by locals in a bid to empower them.
She said the other element was that of graduate trainee programme, which empowered graduates to become engineers, who will be able to manage projects in future.
The Councillor for Komana-Toteng, Mr Zahorerua Maoveka also commended the company for complementing government efforts in the fight against COVID-19.
Mr Maoveka also appreciated the company for its role in local empowerment.
The company donated a total of 2 230 masks, eight infra-red thermometers, eight foot- operated wash stations, four boxes of sanitary pads and a printer for Legothwana Primary School. ENDS
