Waste management worries chairperson
19 Aug 2020
Good Hope Sub-district council chairperson, Mr Boniface Leshomo says the sub-district is not doing well in waste management.
Speaking during the opening of the sub-council session on August 17, Mr Leshomo said the sub-district was in a bad state following the termination of small scale contracts operations due to limited budgetary constraints this financial year.
Mr Leshomo said this had resulted in illegal dumping of waste.
However, he said, the procurement was ongoing to engage small contractors and expressed hope that the move would alleviate the situation.
Mr Leshomo appealed to everyone to keep their environment clean especially during the current era of COVID-19.
On educational issues, he said, the COVID-19 pandemic had negatively impacted the completing classes of Form Fives, Form threes and Standard Sevens and they were ensuring that COVID - 19 protocols were adhered to in all schools.
To address the examination situation, he said, the standardised National Mock Examination was set in such a way that it could be used to substitute the normal final examinations.
On health issues, he said, he announced that the Good Hope Dental clinic was functional with a dentist and dental therapists.
He said the clinic equipment was collected from headquarters in February.
On drug availability in the whole sub-district, he said, it had improved at all levels and pharmacy technicians had been deployed to main clusters, such as Phitshane Molopo, Mmathethe and Pitsane. ends
