Molale implores Batswana to embrace giving

19 Aug 2020

The Minister of Local government and Rural Development’s Mr Eric Molale has called upon Batswana to embrace the spirit of sharing and caring which has made the nation to be what it is today.

The minister made the remarks August 18 when receiving some donations from Sir Ketumile Masire Foundation and Woolworths stores.

He highlighted that the founding fathers; the late Sir Ketumile Masire and the late Sir Seretse Khama both viewed giving as a token to show respect and love to one another, urging Batswana to follow suit and show that they cared about one another.

He said people should not only focus on themselves but rather serve others through giving.

He expressed gratitude to the two organisations, adding that the ministry sometimes ran short of resources geared towards lifting the lives of Batswana.

He said the donations would help put a smile on the faces of the beneficiaries.

Minister Molale assured the nation that the donations would be distributed accordingly to benefit those in need.

Sir Ketumile Masire Foundation CEO, Ms Matshidiso Masire said their donation which comprised 81 000 bars of soap would help promote hand washing and hygiene as part of the national COVID-19 preparedness and response plan 2020.

She added that the donation would benefit at least 39 communities across Boteti, Gantsi, Kgalagadi and Northwest Remote Areas Development Programme settlements as well as the 25 RADP hostels across the country.

Sir Ketumile Masire Foundation donation amounted to P640 000.

For her part the Woolworths general manager, Ms Gorata Abotseng-Lekau said their relationship with the ministry dated years back, saying their gesture was a continuation of what they have been doing every year, by assisting underprivileged individuals across the country.
