Minister of Basic Education, Mr Fidelis Molao has announced that lower classes in all greater Gaborone schools will resume on September 1.
Speaking during a press briefing in Gaborone on August 18, the minister said all schools within the greater Gaborone area had passed inspection of COVID-19 safety regulations with completing classes already back to school.
Minister Molao said there were four primary schools within Kgatleng district, which had not reached the modalities for safety measures of COVID-19.
He noted that the schools did not comply with protocols of social distancing for lower classes, but had assured that they would soon be fully compliant.
Regarding Terrence Private School, Mr Molao noted that it had lagged behind in compliance but would also be fully compliant and ready to re-open soon.
He acknowledged that while the country had experienced high infection rates, schools had experienced relatively low rates with the highest being Masa primary. He further advised parents not to be alarmed about the safety of their children.
Mr Molao also revealed that school managers had been advised to avoid overcrowding in schools and revise their timetables to ensure social distancing. ends
