16 Aug 2020

Pekenene Junior Secondary School (JSS) class of 94/95 has donated 30 school jerseys and 72 packets of sanitary pads to their former school.

The donations were handed over to Pekenene school head, Mr Bakani Itani who was accompanied by among others, the president of the Student Representative Council, Mr Best Chuma and the students’ affairs minister, Ms Warona Motsamai.

In his welcome remarks, Mr Itani expressed appreciation of the gesture, saying it was pleasing to see former learners give back to their former school.

“We welcome this development because a year ago we had another Pekenene CJSS alumni group of 2000 donating motivational posters to the school during a time when we were still trying to transform Pekenene in terms of pupils’ discipline and academic achievement,” he said.

Pekenene school head was also pleased that one member of Pekenene JSS class of 94/95, Ms Kentlafetse Mosokwane, was a former deputy head girl of the school. “Involvement of learners in school management is a very important administrative arm in running the school. This is why we still maintain these structures because they play a key role in terms of assisting us in managing the school,” he added.

Receiving the donation, both Mr Chuma and Ms Motsamai thanked Pekenene class of 94/95 for the donation and also expressed appreciation for the support given to the school by the former learners.

For his part, Mr Timothy Robert, who was speaking on behalf of the class of 94/95 said they found it necessary to give back to their former school as they still had its best interests at heart. BOPA
