Marina implements new measures
13 Aug 2020
Princess Marina Hospital has come up with strategies to decongest the facility as a way of curbing the spread of COVID-19.
A media release from the hospital says visitors will not be allowed in the wards/units affected by COVID-19 until all necessary precautions have been made.
“These precautions include cleaning, transfer of a patient to Sir Ketumile Masire Teaching Hospital and contact tracing to name only a few and no relatives will be allowed to bath their patients,” the statement says.
The release further says all expectant mothers without any underlying health conditions should utilise the nearest maternity clinics for delivery.
Additionally, it says, referring facilities are still encouraged to contact the hospital‘s specialist clinics to book for patients.
“Patients will not be allowed to visit the hospital to book at the specialist clinics except for those who were already booked for review.
This is to reduce congestion at the outpatient clinics,” the statement says.
It also says only emergency cases who need specialised clinics should be referred to the hospital.
The hospital encourages the public to observe strict hygiene measures by washing their hands with soap and water, always wear a face mask and keep a safe distance. ends
