Kgosi Keorapetse Legabala of Selokolela has warned residents to desist from unnecessary movements so as to minimise possible spread of the coronavirus.
In an interview on August 10, he revealed that people in the area of his jurisdiction had a tendency of travelling from the village to cattle posts, lands, around the village and to tuckshops despite movement restrictions; a move, which was likely to endanger their lives and that of others.
Kgosi Legabala said though the compliance rate was better than in the previous lockdown, it was imperative for residents to abstain from unnecessary movements to esnure that COVID-19 does not reach the village.
He noted that five people were recently charged by police for not wearing masks while in the previous lockdown, cases that were recorded for the same offence were higher.
He said it was everyone’s responsibility to ensure compliance of COVID-19 protocol and regulations.
He said they had three incidents in the current lockdown in which people were charged for selling Chibuku despite prohibition of alcohol sale during this period.
Despite failing to adhere to COVID-19 regulations, he applauded residents for not defying the ends of justice indicating that since lockdown started they had not recorded cases of other offenses. ENDS
