Selebi Phikwe District Health Management Team (DHMT) is currently operating with 13 doctors, says Assistant Minister of Health and Wellness, Mr Setlhomo Lelatisitswe.

Answering a question in Parliament, Mr Lelatisitswe said out of a total of 13, one was local and the rest were expatriates. He indicated that Selebi Phikwe DHMT had the highest number of doctors in 2017, comprising 17 doctors and five  specialists. Mr Lelatisitswe said that health and wellness ministry was maintaining strategic partnerships with key stakeholders such as the University of Botswana and the Cuban government to secure medical doctors. He said the optimal number of Selebi Phikwe DHMT would therefore be attained as the recruitment and retention improved.

MP for Selebi Phikwe West, Mr Dithapelo Keorapetse had asked the minister to state the number of doctors and specialists at Selebi Phikwe DHMT and the number of foreign doctors at the hospital. 

He also asked the minister to state the year in which Selebi Phikwe DHMT had the highest number of medical doctors and specialists. Ends
