There are no confirmed COVID-19 cases in Serowe, acting deputy district commissioner for the area Mr Collen Tubego has asserted.
Residents should therefore not be disturbed by rumours circulating around that there were COVID-19 cases in Serowe, he said in an interview this week.
Mr Tubego, who is also chairperson of Serowe Administration Authority COVID-19 team, said since the enforcement of a lockdown for Greater Gaborone, eleven contact tracing cases were registered in Serowe.
The results for 10 of the 11 cases were negative while results for one person were awaited, he said.
Mr Tubego said currently, there was only one person at the old Institute of Health Sciences isolation centre while two other people who came from Gaborone were under home quarantine in Serowe.
He further said there had been one incident where a patient from Palapye was accommodated at the isolation centre in Serowe.
Mr Tubego however advised residents to take the pandemic seriously by following all laid down protocols for slowing down the spread of the virus.
Noting that some people did not follow the protocols, he warned that police would continue to enforce the law. Ends
