Expect health personnel to visit
05 Aug 2020
Residents of Kanye have been informed that contact tracing was ongoing in the village and to expect health personnel to visit their homes.
Speaking in an interview recently, Southern District Health Management Team regional coordinator, Ms Josephine Mosimanewakgosi said the health workers would be carrying proper identification documents.
Meanwhile Ms Mosimanewakgosi has praised the Kanye community for complying with the current Greater Gaborone lockdown rules.
It was remarkable how quickly the community seemed to have adjusted to the restrictions, she noted.
She however said police visibility might be a contributory factor.
Explaining that the lockdown was not meant to punish but to save lives, Ms Mosimanewakgosi said it was necessary for people to be compliant by consent rather than by compulsion.
She said there were still some people who were not prepared to stay in one place for a certain period of time.
Ms Mosimanewakgosi advised members of the community to exercise restraint and willingly stay home.
The pandemic, she said, had brought about a new lifestyle, which all had to embrace.
Ms Mosimanewakgosi further advised members of the public to continue following the COVID-19 health protocols including wearing face masks, washing hands regularly with clean water and soap or sanitising as well as observing social distancing.
Superintendent, Mogomotsi Matlapeng of Sejelo Police concurred that the level of adherence in his area of jurisdiction was satisfactory.
He advised all to cooperate, follow all the set health protocols and only leave their homes when it was absolutely necessary. Ends
